Raw food diet

Vegan Protein

  • Two items which are not on your list and are quite important on a raw diet, coconut oil (Nutiva is the best brand, sold at "MOMS") and avocados. They'll help with keeping your weight up and give you much needed protein. Fresh coconut milk is also great, especially if you can get the young Thai coconuts. You will need a large machete like butcher knife to open them. (Use the back elbow part of the knife to cut/whack a circle into them)

  • I also recommend seaweed. It is loaded with minerals and I think contains protein as well. I have a source in Maine to buy from, "Larch Hanson"-207-546-2875. He has no e-mail. Dulse, Alaria, and Nori are all good.

  • Sprouting is also good. I just throw some asuki beans, lentils, quinoa, or mung beans in a bowl of water overnight. The next day drain the water and just keep them moist until they sprout. You can do this in a glass or ceramic bowl. They need to be rinsed off at least once or twice a day. Put them in the fridge when the tails get to be 1/4 to 1/2 inch long.
